ABOUT FRC

High school students can join FIRST, which stands for "For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology." FIRST is a nonprofit organization. "to create a society where science and technology are embraced... where young people dream of becoming scientific and technology heroes," states the mission statement of FIRST. — Dean Kamen (Founder of FIRST). We compete in the FIRST robotics competitions as Team 3863. At the beginning of the season every team is given the same list of objectives that the robot needs to be able to complete. We use the skills that we have learned over the course of the off-season to build a robot that can successfully complete these objectives. FIRST teaches us many valuable skills beyond the traditional scope of STEM. They encourage cooperation between teams despite the competitive environment. By teaching us that we can learn amazing things from the other teams, our members learn the value of collaboration with other people.

ABOUT US

ABOUT US

Mission Statement:
“Inspire and enhance quality STEM education within our school, community, and the greater Conejo Valley”

Based at Newbury Park High School in Newbury Park, California, Team 3863, Pantherbotics, is a FIRST Robotics team. By tackling problems posed by the FIRST Robotics Competition, Team 3863 students receive practical experience in the domains of engineering, programming, and multimedia. In order to accomplish this goal, our team needs the help of our mentors, community, and sponsors as well as financial support from sponsors. It is our goal to teach our members many of the skills that they will need in a STEM-oriented career.

OUR TEAM

Pantherbotics has been a FRC robotics team since our 2011, but before that, we competed in VEX robotics. Our team is built on teamwork and good co-operation to assist us during competitions. With a good support system from our beloved mentors, Team 3863 takes the experience gained from FRC and helps students apply it to their futures in STEM. With help from our wonderful sponsors, Pantherbotics has been competing for over 14 seasons of FRC.

During the 2024 FRC season, Crescendo, our team worked hard during the 6 weeks of build season to create our robot. Affectionally called Artemis by the Pantherbotics team, Artemis persevered through two regionals and eventually went on to compete in the world championships. Using Fusion 360, Artemis was designed digitally before being brought into this world by our team of budding engineers. Utilizing an over-the-bumper intake feeding into the shooting arm, our robot can score both Amp and Speaker. Artemis has two stable climb arms to give her an advantage with hanging on the stage, especially to harmonize with other robots. Artemis enjoys rocketing across the field to score points using her custom swerve drives. Utilizing the power of AI, Artemis uses artificial intelligence to automatically detect and map to notes on the field.
